Other Iowa Update

The population of Rolfe, Iowa, currently at 602 souls with the recent welcome addition of Julie and Scott, shall soon be experiencing an addition of two MORE souls, myself and Adam, bringing the total population up to 604.

Yes, yes, a few citizens have cried out that they're losing their small-town charm with this recent population explosion, but most are glad.

Keith and I have decided to separate. He's such a warm, affectionate guy (heh), it was a hard decision to make, but then I saw this house and that clinched the deal for me:

Plus, Julie's living there, which I'm thrilled about of course! We'll be like Dennis & Kenny II, and are racking our brains as to what business will be successful in our newly adopted fair city.

"Big business!", the Rolfe peasants cry. Too bad, Rolfe peasants! We shall start a business (or just sell on ebay) and let them eat cake. Maybe we'll sell cake! Apparently for some reason, though, it's against the law to sell crafts. So that's out.

I'm not flippant or lighthearted about this at all. Many tears were shed (remember when I was trying to decide about David? And Keith and I had been married 14 years!) and many a sleepless night was spent. But now I am 100% at peace with my decision, and know it was the right one, and know that it will be best for Adam as well.

Plus, you can't beat that house! I love it! It's a rare 1913 Sears model called the Saratoga! My offer was accepted ($48,500 with $3,500 cash back at signing, so a net offer of $45,000), I have financing, the inspection was decent and just the appraisal is left. We close on September 22, three weeks from today, so I'm going to get a move on with the packing - after this weekend.

Keith will be fine. He'll fix up this house and perhaps sell it and maybe accept a job abroad in a tropical paradise. He may not even notice we left! He will when he goes to sit on the sofa and there's NOTHING THERE!! Sit on the FLOOR, Keith!! (I'm giggling madly. This is a wee bit therapeutic for me.)

This is a big change, a huge one, but I'm so excited for the future and the possibilities that now lay ahead.

Please send good thoughts and prayers our way, that things will go well for us as we continue throught this tricky but necessary time.

That's a good way to let the family know of your decision which we know has taken a lot of soul searching but Dad and I both feel you made the right decision. I enjoyed your link. Thanks for putting it in. Love, Mom
